Some people find beauty in nature, the human form or in a well sculpted piece of art. I find beauty in the dumpster! As a child I was strongly encouraged by my father to recycle and to be aware of the impact we leave on the earth. Way back when you had to bring your item to the bins and throw them in. I remember being intrigued by al beautiful sight of broken items just laying there. I often got in trouble for attempting to bring them home. After that I decided to keep everything I could find that was broken and discarded. It wasn’t until the birth of my first daughter that I decided to do something with the copious amount of bags burdening my fathers shed. I had broken items, a hammer and a tin can. After seeing what happens when you maliciously place these things together I was hooked! I’ve spent years since asking the question, “Why would you throw that away?” This question led me to working, but never limited to, furniture, frames, lamps and shades, jewelry and handbags. I have also worked in antique restoration as a metal polisher. I love to take something that nobody has use for and reinvent it into an art piece that will be useful or at least bring a smile to your face! After decades of collecting and creating I am starting from scratch here in Denver. I can’t wait to see what this lovely city has to offer! I am privileged to have an amazing and supportive family, who always allowed me to be myself, as well as two beautiful and creative children. My girls have shaped and inspired my creative motivation since the day they were born. In my mind there is no limit to what you can re-use and make beautiful again. My mission is to raise my children with the concept that everything has a use and if it doesn’t…create one!
